A Magical Meditation for Lovers

Date: 2004-07-26   By:  Mabel Iam

The meditative state is our natural state. When we reach this state, we recognize what lies at the root of all our experiences, and we become fully aware. Meditation awakens the fundamental and innate intelligence of being - the light of our spirit - and it becomes the cornerstone of everything we perceive.

Formally, meditation entails entering a state of awakening and freedom of the spirit. Meditation gives you breathing room from the countless activities you do every day, and directs you to the true experience of your being. Not that your everyday activities or experiences are contradictory or incompatible with the state of being aware, but in meditation, they are set aside for a simpler grasp of your being.

If your mind is bogged down by ideas, experiences, and impulses, only conflict can arise. When your mind is clear and capable of deep reasoning, that’s when you have achieved a state of meditation. Only then can you clearly recognize the true sense of love.

Through meditation, we experience reality as it is; as an inclusive experience. We are prevented from getting lost amidst conceptual illusions or emotional attachments which are nothing but distractions from that immense and unfathomable reality. All human actions should be meditative in nature; enlightened, awakened, free from deceit.

Try to attain more and more freedom as the days go by. Recognize your feelings as they are, and let your innate intelligence direct you in every step you take. Discard those ideas accumulated in memory, or the judgment of a borrowed mind.

To meditate, make sincerity your rule of life. Look at yourself naked in the mirror of your own being. Open up to the reality of the universe, for that is your real home.

Meditation is the delight of our own self
Meditation brings about sensitivity and a great sense of belonging to the world. The degree of sensitivity will increase to the point that the smallest blade of grass will acquire immense importance. Sensitivity allows for the understanding that that blade is as important to existence as the largest of all stars; without it, existence would be less than what it is. Conscious meditation - individually or as a couple - will allow you to:

• Increase longevity
• Harmonize your body, mind, and spirit
• Keep a happy vibe
• Increase sexual energy
• Balance gland secretion
• Recover emotional harmony
• Balance the energy centers
• Eliminate stress
• Increase the ability to concentrate
• Expand creativity and memory
• Increase willpower and determination
• Decrease heart rate (the number of times the heart pumps per minute) while at rest
• Decrease muscular tension
• Increase the ability to be awake and alert

States of Consciousness
Conscious meditation allows you to heighten your level of consciousness. There are three levels of consciousness:

1. Human consciousness
The plane related to the everyday affairs and worldly events. This level of consciousness deals with normal communication, in which no specific function is sought but rather our need to communicate is expressed.

2. The consciousness of love
The plane at which two beings wish to unite. This level of consciousness heightens love to a superior state.

3. Divine consciousness
The plane in which the mind has reached a state of perfect union with the universe. In this level, the mind becomes one with the infinite world through silence. This level of consciousness can be reached through the mental or oral repetition of the mantras used to get each chakra in motion or to become part of the universal oneness.

Exercise to achieve divine consciousness
In a state of relaxation, stand naked opposite your partner and visualize a three-colored flame in your heart. Doing this helps to radiate light towards your partner’s heart. Your magical partner must do the same.

For inner contact, visualize your partner wrapping you in those three colors. If you still cannot picture them, watch an actual flame before carrying out the ritual - then you’ll be able to identify the three colors and visualize the light they produce.

Now, imagine that fire coming out of your heart and reaching across to your partner. Spiritually intense, this exercise will bring about a stronger and more wholesome bond before sex. (For further reference, consult my book Sex and The Perfect Lover.)

Meditation with your partner
Both of you should be lying down and in a state of relaxation. Close your eyes and relax your minds, focusing on deep breathing. Concentrate on the air coming into and out of your bodies. Put the technique of harmonious breathing into practice now: both of you should inhale together, hold your breath, exhale, and hold your breath again. Practice the three modes of breathing (inhaling, holding your breath, exhaling).

Be aware of whatever comes to mind - your thoughts, the rhythm of your body, and your emotions. If memories show up, don’t repress them - just watch them and let them go. Picture your mind as a sky full of clouds. Watch the colors of the clouds and their density. Each cloud represents a feeling or a thought. Free each cloud until the sky is blue, fully blue and bright with the light of the sun. Focus on your mind until it is empty and quiet.

Do this exercise every day for 10 minutes. In each session, you’ll achieve the state of consciousness of love and eternal ecstasy.
